Tonic

Drama at Tonic Towers today when we spotted this poor kitty stranded on the ledge in the tower block across the road. All of us oooh-ed and ahhed as we wodered if it was a suicidal kitty. Then we spotted the pigeon. More oohs and ahhs as the kitty went forward, backward, upwards, contemplated going downwards. finally the pigeon flew away and the cat was left wondering what to do. You’ll be pleased to know there was no flattened kitty as it realised it could walk backwards to the balcolny. Massive sighs of relief from the Tonic team.

A drunken night in the pub with the neighbours and a challenge was born. Tonic vs Last Exit 5 aside football. The teams trained for absolute minutes with nourishing yeast beverages and tobacco. Tonic presented a strong and predominently female team and gave the Last Exit guys a run for their money. A few near-sterilising injuries later and the fun was over. Time to get serious, scores were tied at 3 all, “The next goal’s the winner”…….The score was 4.3 to Last Exit (but the final goal did go from a Tonic foot to a Last Exit face and accidentally into the goal…). High five to everyone. The next challenge, International darts. Tonic will need to pull their socks up to win the title back….

My house mate works at the BBC. He often comes home and tells me exciting things that happen at work and it makes me feel like I have my finger on the pulse because I have some small snippet of information before it reaches the general public. As a result I was really excited when he told me about a whole NEW show on the BBC and pointed me to the trailer for it on iPlayer. I eagerly went to watch the trailer so I could ask him what the exciting news was. You can watch it here.

I wasn’t disappointed when I learned it was an elaborate April Fools joke. In fact that made it even better.

I was only disappointed he didn’t tell me about it before the general public saw it.

No matter what the problem they will find a creative solution. Hayley couldn’t get through to me on the phone to let me know she was running late, so I came in to find this pic in my inbox. Nice one.

Katherine took Tonic Love to the extreme this weekend by getting hitched!! Congratulations Katherine from all of us. x x x x

Why’s that then?

Actually its 6 sleeps until our annual Christamas jaunt. This year we are heading to the sunny (?) Bilbao. Two nights and three days of bonding, boozing and bellyaching in Bilbao. Bring it on!

How is it that a 75 year old Scottish dairy farmer is coming fourth in our competition? Mr Vernon McGregor is currently on 328,079 steps AND we are still waiting for the last week’s figures. Big Vern (also known as Moira’s dad) delivered his steps to date written on some sort of sheep selling tag. He is putting us to shame. Walk on Vern!

So we’ve been stepping our way to buffness over the last few weeks and Ginger Pete is currently in the lead with 418829 steps. HOWEVER…. He has broken his pedometer! This leaves the competition wide open. With a combined total 1.6 million steps between us to date, a plethora of cake in the studio has tempted too many. A few competitors have fallen off the wagon and strayed more towards buffet than buffness. Will this deteriorate into a cake fest? Will we end up a company of over weight desk drivers? Stay tuned.

I have challenged the Tonic Team to embark on “One Million Steps to Buffness” with me. The idea being that we all don pedometers and race to be the first person to clock a million steps. As an added incentive I suggested we all put money into a pot and, in the immortal words of Abba, “The winner takes it all”. This has sparked a debate about keeping the money or donating to charity.

The challenge begins on September 19th, watch this space…
