When it’s lunchtime, and it’s pouring down with rain, there’s nothing better than staying in the studio and having a marathon multi-player game of Mario Kart…

But then, i would say that, because i won :)

Rain, rain, go away…

Mario Kart!

walkman.jpgFor over 25 years, Sony has been bringing a personal, portable stereo music experience to our ears, here are some of the beautiful models that have been made in this time. I really wish i hadn’t lost mine in 1988, it might be worth quite a lot nowadays!! Check them out

Haggis

Moira kindly cooked some Haggis for this week’s Beer O’Clock. As well as providing some very tasty food she also provided the following Scottish poem.

A Red, Red Rose, 1974
O my Luve’s like a red, red rose,
That’s newly sprung in June:
O my Luve’s like the melodie,
That’s sweetly play’d in tune.

As fair art thou, my bonnie lass,
So deep in luve am I;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
Till a’ the seas gang dry.

Till a’ the seas gang dry, my dear,
And the rocks melt wi’ the sun;
And I will luve thee still, my dear,
While the sands o’ life shall run.

And fare-thee-weel, my only Luve!
And fare-thee-weel, a while!
And I will come again, my Luve,
Tho’ ’twere ten thousand miles.

“It is still not known why the Sun’s light is missing some colors. Shown above are all the visible colors of the Sun, produced by passing the Sun’s light through a prism-like device.”

Kingston University website

We have completed the first phase of a website redesign programme for Kingston University. The project involved a combination of user experience, visual design and web specialist teams. One of the most interesting aspects of the project was involving University students in reviewing the initial creative concepts.

Timsheet

Every night our studio team diligently email an off the cuff visual reminder to complete our timesheets. Nice one Bridget - this is one of my favourites. Although I’ve not done my timesheet yet so better get back to it.

studio.jpgHere are some pictures of our new studio, which we will be moving into in February. It’s not exactly new (the building is a few hundred years old) but has been nicely refurbished keeping all of the original features and is much bigger for the growing team!

The Johnson Banks Christmas card this year takes the form of trees ram-punched out of magazines and brochures that were found around the office. Very simple idea and a good example of recycling. Read more here

guggenheim.jpgAfter weeks of waiting, the Tonic team eventually got on a jet plane to Spain for some essential team bonding and Tonic love!! Although the blog isn’t really the place to show most of the photos taken in the evenings, here are some tame snaps from the trip…
